Ethiopia today unveils new Birr notes for Birr 10, 50 & 100 denominations, with an additional introduction of a new Birr 200 note. The new notes will curb financing of illegal activities; corruption and contraband. Enhanced security features on the new notes will also cease counterfeit production.

ኢትዮጵያ ነባሮቹን የ10፣ የ50 እና የ100 ብር የገንዘብ ዓይነቶች ሙሉ ለሙሉ በመተካት ለግብይት የሚሆን አዲስ የገንዘብ ዓይነት መጠቀም እንደምትጀምር በዛሬው ዕለት ይፋ ተደርጓል። ይህም አዲሱን የ200 ብር ገንዘብ ይጨምራል። እነዚህ አዲስ የገንዘብ ዓይነቶች ለሕገ ወጥ እንቅስቃሴዎች የሚደረግን ድጋፍ፣ ሙስናን እና የኮንትሮባንድ ሥራዎችን ለመቀልበስ ይረዳሉ። በአዲሶቹ የገንዘብ ዓይነቶች ላይ የተካተቱ መለያዎች አመሳስሎ ገንዘብ ለማተም የሚደረጉ ሕገ ወጥ ጥረቶችንም ለማስቀረት ያግዛሉ።
