Itinerary

DAY 1:

ARRIVAL IN ADDIS ABABA
personal pick up from Bole International Airport, Addis Abeba, transfer to the hotel

depending on arrival time visit in a traditional restaurant

Overnight: at Hotel, Addis Ababa


DAY 2:

CITY TOUR IN ADDIS ABABA

full day tour, including the National, the Ethnological Museum and Holy Trinity Cathedral.

afternoon visit of Merkato

Overnight: at Hotel, Addis Ababa

 

DAY3:

FLIGHT TO BAHIR DAR & CITY TOUR IN BAHIR DAR
early flight, transfer to the hotel

boat trip on lake Tana to 2 different island and it’s monasteries, boat tour for checking on Hippopotamuses, afternoon drive/short hike to the Blue Nile Falls
Overnight: at Hotel, Bahir Dar


DAY 4:
DRIVE TO & CITY TOUR IN GONDAR

car drive to Gondar (3-4 hours), transfer to the hotel, half day tour to the World Heritage castles and royal baths and the church of Debre Birhan Selassie
Overnight: at Hotel, Gondar

 

DAY 5:

FLIGHT TO LALIBELA
early flight, transfer to Hotel, time for resting, possible excursion/easy walk of Lalibela town

Overnight: at Hotel, Lalibela

 

DAY 6:

FULL DAY LALIBELA WORLD HERITAGE CHURCHES TOUR

Morning till mid-day: visiting the north-western cluster of churches -Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel, Bet Mikael & Bet Golgotha.

afternoon: visiting the south- eastern cluster of churches –Bet Gabriel Rafael, Bet Merkorios, Bet Emanuel, and Bet Abba Libanos and Bet Giyorgis

Overnight: at Hotel, Lalibela

 

DAY 7:
TREKKING TO ABUNE YOSEF MASSIF

After a solid breakfast AT your hotel, your guide will pick you up at your hotel at 7.30ish. From there directly you will start the trekking.

Very soon Lalibela stretches underneath your feet and you are already in the beautiful LASTA MOUNTAINS. After around 3hrs you will reach the first plateau above ABI JACULA called MERABARBU ('something on top of something'- the plateau on top of the mountains)

The trek continues in the direction to the next plateau called AD MEHANE ALEM (ATABKIT, From Ad Medhane Alem (Atabkit) you now will continue to walk towards the AD MEDHANE ALEM VILLAGE, NEAR ASTABIR, and your 'home' for tonight.

 

DAY 8:
TREKKING TO RIM GEDEL PEAK AND VILLAGE VISIT

After breakfast (prepared by your own cook) you start a shorter trek this day (around3-4 hours) passing by tiny Ethiopian farmers huts, many happy and curious children, farmers working on their fields, cows and sheep’s crazing freely- to our huts/Tukuls on WEDEBIYE ABO, close to the village called TIGU KEBELE.

If you want to, we can climb with you to the very top of the highest mountain here, called RIM GEDEL (4284mtr). or visit the local mountain school- you even can teach here- or you run out with the youngsters, helping them to herd the animals. The night you will spend in the lodge/village again.

 

DAY 9:
TREKKING BACK TO LALIBELA TOWN

after breakfast trekking back to Lalibela, tru the still working mountain monastery called ASHETEN MARYAM, home for some monks and nuns, living some sort of hermit life there.

You will reaching Lalibela around 3pm.

 

DAY 10:
TRANSFER TO LALIBELA AIRPORT FOR YOUR FLIGHT TO ADDIS ABABA

This day you have free, walk around Addis Ababa. Overnight in Addis Ababa

 

DAY 11:
DRIVE TO ARBA MINCH

Pick up from hotel and drive directly where we will make a right turn right before the city of Arbaminch and head to the Dorze tribe of Chencha and visit the village life of these people; famous for traditional cloth making by weaving cotton using locally made instruments. We will visit their late afternoon village life. Finally, we drive back to Arbamimch and overnight in Arbaminch

 

DAY 12:
VISIT JINKA, KONSO & ARI TRIBES

In the morning we drive directly to Jinka where we will make a stop in Konso and visit the village life of these hard working communities ,well known for their terracing culture that dates back to some 500 years, to cultivate crops especially Maize and Sorghum in a challenging topography which has been recognised by UNESCO as a heritage. After visiting this village for as long as you want and head to Jinka where we will visit the village life of the Ari tribe who live on the plateau lands surrounding Jinka town( The administrative town of the 16 different Tribal communities of the Omo valley area). Overnight Jinka

 

DAY 13:
VISIT MURSI TRIBE

In the morning we head to the unique tribe of Mursi ( The women are famous for putting clay made circular lip and ear plates which symbolizes beauty in honor) crossing through Mago National Park in order to reach their village. We will visit the uninterrupted authentic daily life activities the entire afternoon where this will give an excellent time of interaction which makes it a once in a lifetime time experience. Overnight through camping with the tribes where we will have an excellent cook with us and a well organized team with complete and clean camping gears.

 

DAY 14:
DRIVE TO TURMI, VISIT VILLAGES, HAMMER AND BANNA TRIBES

In the morning after breakfast we drive back to Jinka and then continue driving directly to Turmi where we will have several village stops on our way down to meet the tribes we come across as such: Banna and Hammer tribes village life daily activity with no interruptions till late afternoon and overnight in Buska Lodge. Not forgetting to mention that we will attend any colorful tribal markets we come across which happen once in a week in each tribal destination. Overnight mango lodge

 

DAY 15:

DRIVE BACK TO ARBA MINCH VISITING DASENECH TRIBE ON THE WAY

In the morning we drive further down to Omorate which is a border town with the Northwest Kenya as to visit the Dasenech tribe deep in their remote villages leaving the commonly visited ones by going down as far as the Northern tip of Lake Turkana and experience a wonderful time you will never forget. Later on we drive back to Turmi and camp overnight with one of the most hospitable tribes of the Hammer people within their communal village compound with an excellent interaction time. Then drive to Arbaminch overnight

 

DAY 16:
DRIVE BACK TO ADDIS ABABA

morning drive back to Addis through the rift valley region will arrive addis abeba let in the afternoon. End of the trip!
